Edgewater at Foster is located on the shore of beautiful Foster Lake just inside the city limits of Sweet Home, Oregon. Sweet Home lies nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountain Range not far from the scenic Oregon Coast. It is recognized as the "Gateway to the Santiam Playground" recreational area and is home of the Northwest's premier Country Music and Camping Festival, The Oregon Jamboree. Foster and Green Peter Lakes offer boating, fishing and camping for the whole family. The Sweet Home Ranger District of the Willamette National Forest beckons hikers, hunters and campers. Samaritan Health Services provides the residents of Sweet Home with quality, nearby health services. Corvallis is home to Oregon State University and is located 35 miles to the west of town. Only an hour away is the city of Eugene, home of the University of Oregon and two world-class performance venues; the Hult Center and newly constructed Matthew Knight Arena.
The History of Sweet Home
The Sweet Home valley was settled in 1851. The first community in this valley was named Buckhead after the Buckland saloon on nearby Ames Creek. Another community a short distance from Buckhead was called Mossville. By the 1880's the two communities had expanded towards each other and the combined village was named Sweet Home. The City of Sweet Home was incorporated in 1893. By the 1980's Sweet Home had expanded to include the community of Foster.
